These are the terms you agree to when you use this site or buy anything from us. Please read them; they are short.

Who you are dealing with

What we provide

Written guidance, checklists and tools about applying for a state school place in England, and about appealing when a place is refused. It is based on the School Admissions Code, the School Admission Appeals Code, and information published by the Department for Education and by councils.

What we are not

• We are not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice. If your situation is complicated, take proper advice.
• We do not act for you. We do not contact councils or schools on your behalf, submit anything for you, or represent you at a hearing.
• We are not connected to any school, council or government body, and none of them endorse us.

What we cannot promise

We cannot promise your child will be offered a place, that an appeal will succeed, or that any particular outcome will follow from using this. Decisions are made by admission authorities and by independent appeal panels, not by us. Around one in five appeals heard by a panel succeeds, and we say so on the site because we would rather you knew.

Your council has the final word

Councils and schools set their own admission rules, their own deadlines and their own forms, and they change them. We work hard to be accurate and we review our content before each admissions season, but where anything here differs from what your council or the school says, theirs is correct and ours is not. Always check the official page before you rely on a date.

School information

School details come from the Department for Education’s Get Information about Schools register, under the Open Government Licence v3.0. It is updated regularly but may be out of date, particularly where a school has recently changed type or merged.

Where we say a school is “likely” to need an extra form, that is our reading of the school’s type and character. Only the school itself can confirm it. Always check with them.

Distances

The distance tool measures a straight line between two postcodes. Many schools measure this way, but some measure a walking or driving route instead, and some measure from a different point in the school grounds. Treat our figure as a guide for planning, not as the number the school will use.

Buying

• Prices are in pounds sterling and shown before you pay.
• Payment is taken by Stripe. Your contract for the content is with us.
• You get access immediately after payment.
• It is a single payment. There is no subscription and we cannot charge you again.

Your right to cancel

Because this is digital content delivered immediately, by buying it you ask us to start straight away and you accept that you lose the automatic 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

We give you 60 days instead, which is longer and simpler. See our refund policy. None of this affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if what you received is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality.

What you may and may not do with it

When you buy, you get a personal licence to use the content for your own family. You may print it, save it and share it with your partner or your child’s other parent.

You may not resell it, republish it, share it publicly, post it in groups or forums, or use it to run a paid service for other people.

Access

Access is granted through your browser using a link sent after purchase. Because we do not make you create an account, that access lives on the device you used. Keep the link. If you lose it, email us and we will send it again.

We aim to keep the site available at all times but cannot guarantee it. We may change or improve the content; where we do, you keep access to the current version.

If something goes wrong

If the content is faulty, not as described, or you cannot get in, tell us and we will fix it or refund you.

We are responsible for loss you suffer as a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for the decision of a council, school or appeal panel.

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability can be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid us.

Ending this

You can stop using the site at any time. We may withdraw access if the content is being shared or resold in breach of these terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own country.

Note that our content is written for the school admissions system in England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland run different systems with different rules and dates.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published when you bought.
